Cindy Prince, Richard Beaver, junior rower Ian Beaver and Coach Adam Stoermer met at the KRA docks and braved the cool New Year’s morning temperatures,  joining 10 Knoxville Rowing Association members for the first row of 2009.  Cindy stroked a women’s four and the men joined in a mixed 8 for a jaunt on the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville.

The composite crews rowed east of the KRA venue underneath the James White Parkway past Island Home Airport and the famed ‘Mother Rock.’  At the turnaround KRA President Robin Brown popped the champagne cork and used some outstanding coxing skills to pass the New Years Toast between both boats.

It was a great row and great way to start 2009!  Thanks to KRA for hosting us; SMRC members should look forward to more colaborative venures with KRA in the future.
